Baby Boy Congrats Card

Are you doing the November Daily Marker 30 Day challenge? I’ve been trying my hardest to keep up! My goal is to color and post something to my Instagram feed every day this month which will be a feat. I wasn’t able to do something every single day for the previous challenges, but I have high hopes for this one! In keeping up with the challenge, I almost forgot to post this congratulations card I made a few weeks ago!

Baby boy cardTO start off this card, I stamped the rattle image fromĀ  the Tim Holtz Baby Blueprint set onto a large tag die. I also heat embossed the edges of the tag using Versamark ink and some liquid platinum embossing powder.

Baby boy cardI also threaded some twine through the hole in the tag and tied little knots at the end to give the string a bit more interest. Then I set the finished tag aside and got to work on the card base.
Baby boy cardTo make a quick and easy background that was still visually interesting, I found several rolls of washi tape that went well together and just stuck strips of each tape down onto the card. I made sure all of the colors and patterns would work well for a baby boy card. This is a really quick and simple way to add pop to an otherwise simple card and I really love washi tape, I don’t know why I don’t use it more often! Baby boy cardI stamped the congrats! sentiment from the Altenew Label Love stamp set, added some fun foam to the back of the sentiment strip and the tag, and mounted both onto the card base.Baby boy cardNow we wait for the little one to arrive!

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

Happy Birthday CardAnother birthday card! This one was created for one of my girlfriends so I wanted it to be cute and feminine. Made with fun washi tapes and the birthday tags stamp set and tag, you’re it and stitched rectangles dies from Lawn Fawn, was inspired by this card that I saw on one of my favorite card making blogs, A Blog Called Wanda.

Happy Birthday CupcakeAfter cutting out the tag die, I stamped out the cupcake, candle and happy birthday sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink. I colored the cupcake with copic markers, added some pink twine, and set it aside. I took the stitched rectangle panel and added the three strips of washi tape, and mounted the tag on top of the panel using foam tape to give it a bit of dimension. I centered the panel onto a slightly larger cut piece of pink paper, then mounted the whole thing onto a card base. I probably could have left it as is, but decided to add a few sequins here and there to add a bit of embellishment. I adhered those with ranger multi medium matte glue. I love how cute the card came out, and putting it all together was quick and easy. And it’s a fun use for washi tape (of which I now have many rolls)!
