Midweek Manicure // In the Sea

It’s hard to believe we are coming up on the last unofficial week of Summer. The months have flown by, and I only just recently went to the beach for the first time all season (it was well worth the wait). So, I suppose this mani marks the last of my summer-themed designs. I can’t say that I mind too much, though, because Fall is my favorite season. I love seeing the trees explode with color and the cooler weather suits me just fine.

In the Sea NailsI used:

In the Sea Water Decal Nails

This mani called for a lot of accessories, and I just had fun and got creative with placement. After painting my ring and thumb with Turquoise and Caicos and the rest of my nails with Marshmallow, I proceeded to cut out various motifs from the decals and place them on the nails I’d painted white. I saved the turquoise nails for a multitude of studs and pearls, which I affixed using the Seche Vite top coat. If you find that your nail studs don’t stay in place with a topcoat, try using a bit of nail glue.

Now it’s time to go and enjoy the last fleeting days of summer (I think another beach trip is in order).

Midweek Manicure // Ombre Palm Trees

My first attempt at a palm tree gradient!

Palm Tree Gradient Nails

I used:

  • China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure – Peach of Cake
  • China Glaze – Refresh Mint
  • Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen – Black
  • Cosmetic Sponge
  • Seche Vite Top Coat

After using a cosmetic sponge to create the gradient effect as a base color for my nails (there are lots of tutorials for this on youtube), I free-handed some palm trees. Using the I Heart Nail Art Pen (once again) made creating the palm trees very effortless, but I think I might prefer to use a thinner, more precise striping brush the next time around. I feel like the trees lack a bit of definition and the color was pretty thin in some spots.

Sad to think that it’s almost time to wrap it up with these summer-themed manis!
