Midweek Manicure // A Little Bit of Glitz

First I just want to say that my prayers continue to go out to those affected by Monday’s bombings in Boston. I am thankful that all of my friends and family who were part of the marathon or who volunteered or watched are all safe, but my heart breaks for those who were more closely effected by the tragic event. I am looking forward to the day when the cowards who commit these evil acts are brought to justice.

This week I came across a mani I loved on pinterest and re-created it. Don’t ask me for the link to the originial mani because I can’t for the life of me seem to find it now. So frustrating.

Nude Mani with Crystals

I used:

Rhinestone Mani

After my base coat I painted a criss-cross pattern on each ring finger. Then I put a small amount of top coat at the base of each nail and pressed the rhinestones in a line at the nail bed. Once I’d finished each nail, I finished each nail with a full top coat. Done!

Midweek Manicure // Gold and Green

You know, for St. Patty’s day!

I wanted to do something quick and easy but a little different, so I decided on a caviar manicure (check out my first caviar mani post here).

gold and green caviar mani

I used:

After a base coat on all nails, I painted on two coats of the green on every finger except for my ring finger on each hand. On each ring finger, I painted on two coats of Luxe. Then, I painted on a pretty heavy coat of the Seche Vite and immediately poured the microbeads onto the nail. Once you’ve got your nail covered with microbeads, press them down gently onto the nail to sort of smoosh (technical word) them into the topcoat so that they adhere and stay. Do one nail at a time and repeat the process as you go.

I took a few photos with the flash to show the sparkly-ness.

St. Patrick's Day Mani

I don’t think D and I will be doing anything too special to celebrate the day, although we might have some corned beef and cabbage… YUM! Are you doing anything to celebrate St. Patrick’s day? Perhaps some fancy nail polish? I’d love to hear your plans!

Midweek Manicure // Inspired by Oz

Hello! This week’s manicure post is a bit late, but better late than never (I think I’ve typed that a few times in the past few weeks…I really need to get myself together).

I saw this image of Rachel Weisz from Oz the Great and Powerful, and decided I’d like to do a similar mani. I haven’t gotten it quite right yet but I think it came out kind of cool. I’ll have to experiement more with colors and base polishes, but for now I just did a simple base coat, taped off the shape, painted on the color and then covered it all with a top coat.

And can we just talk about Oz the Great and Powerful for a minute? So many movies have come out in the past few months that I feel I really NEED to see, this one included. I love the Wizard of Oz, and think this movie would be fun to see, too. Is anyone else dying to see it? Has anyone seen it yet? If so, what do you think??! Let me know! :)

Midweek Manicure // In need of some sparkle

So far this week has not been the greatest (mostly because of car trouble and feeling over-extended). At least I have some very glittery fingers to cheer me up!

Glitter Finger Mani

I don’t normally wear a lot of glitter or sparkle on my nails, but come Christmas time, Kim pulls out all the stops. And this mani and all its glittery glory was fairly easy to put on and won’t be too bad to take off – just the one sparkly finger (I’m still treading lightly into the glitter world).

I used Essie Limo Scene as a base color on all of my nails. On the ring finger on each hand, after two coats of Limo Scene, I brushed on a clear top coat and sprinkled on some silver craft glitter, then again covered that nail, and every other nail, with a top coat (Seche Vite). I love the big chunky glitter!

Happy Wednesday – here’s hoping the second half of the week goes a bit more smoothly!
