Cards

Merci Beaucoup!

Sometimes a simple distress ink-blended background and a big and bold sentiment are all it takes to put together a nice thank you card!

The two cards were made for two college students who worked for me (at my day job!) this summer. They were such a great help to me that I was really sad to see them go. Somehow bright, colorful handmade cards eased the pain just a bit. :)

I had an ink blended panel kicking around my craft room, that I had made duringĀ  #thedailymarker30day coloring challenge. To make the panel, I blended an assortment of distress inks onto some white 80lbpaper in rough rainbow order. I then added some water droplets which bleached out certain areas and created what looks to me like a nice bokeh effect. I then used a 5″x 3.75″stitched rectangle die to cut two panels from the larger piece.

I used my Mini Misti and Versa Fine onyx black ink to stamp the sentiment from the Mama Elephant Merci stamp set. Then, I attached each panel to an A2 sized card base. I resisted the urge to glue some sequins onto the cards, though I think that might have been a nice finishing touch.

Merci Beaucoup - Mama ElephantI really love how these turned out. I hope you like them, too!

Merci Times Three// I’m back from the dead

It’s time to resurrect this blog. I’m sorry I’ve been gone so long! No excuses, really. I got busy doing home improvement work (and I do plan to share some before and after photos soon), and then days turned into weeks turned into months. Going forward, I’m going to do my best to post weekly, and get back into the swing of things. I’ve even got a (mostly) functional craft room now, and having a space for creative work really makes a difference.

About a month ago, we had a housewarming party. It was great! Lots of friends and family came by to celebrate our new house with us and it was so nice to fill our new home with people we love. After the party, I got busy making thank you cards (lots of which have appeared on my instagram feed).

IMG_7987 This set of cards was relatively quick and easy. For two of the cards, I used the Brush Strokes stamp set from Mama Elephant, and an assortment of Mama Elephant pigment inks before stamping the Merci sentiment (from another Mama Elephant stamp set) on top of the brush strokes. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the sentiments.

I also had a water colored panel lying around so I slapped a Merci sentiment on that, mounted it on a card base and called it a day.

Phew. It feels good to get a blog post written! For those of you who are still following along with me Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for sticking it out!
