DIY // Bridesmaid Survival Kits

I’m going to be a bridesmaid!

Bridesmaid Survival Kit

One of my very best friends, and one of MY bridesmaids, Marisa, recently got engaged (yay!), and a week or so after hearing the news, myself and her other bridesmaids received our own pinterest-inspired bridesmaid survival kits. Totally fun and a totally cute idea, right? I thought they were great so I wanted to share them here.

Inside the Bridesmaid Survival Kit

Marisa bought plastic storage boxes and decorated the bottom of them with decorative shelf liner paper cut to size. Glittery silver sticker-letters spell out “Bridesmaid Survial Kit” on the lid of the box. She mentioned to me that she had trouble getting the stickers to stick on their own, so she modge-podged them. She also included a cute “Got the guy, need my girls” card with the box.

Bridesmaid Survival Kit Essentials

Inside the kit are all of the essentials to keep any bridesmaid looking their best on the big day including:

  • lip balm
  • tissues
  • hair elastics
  • calming lavender-scented lotion
  • pain reliever tablets
  • face blotting sheets (to take away any sweaty oily-ness)
  • lint roller
  • nail polish top coat
  • breath mints
  • bobby pins
  • band aid
  • spray-on wrinkle remover
  • hand sanitizer
  • makeup remover wipes
  • vitamin C tablets
  • and a nip of alcohol :)

All the essentials! I loved the kit – and Marisa might be seeing some similar stuff in her bridesmaid gift a few months from now…

Can’t wait to be a bridesmaid next year!

Valentines Day Gift Idea // A Manicure in a Box

Today I thought I’d share a cute gift idea for Valentines’ day – or any holiday really. I made these boxes for friends at Christmastime, but I think the girly boxes and pink nail polish are totally V-day appropriate.

Gift Boxes

I used my Silhouette Cameo to print out the box top and bottom shapes onto some pretty flowery paper. Then I just folded and glued them together (much like I did with the Christmas Cookie Boxes). I figured it would be nice to put the mani-kits into some nice keepsake boxes so the ladies could keep them as long as they wanted. I also made the name tags by cutting and pasting smaller round circles onto larger scolloped circles and using a sharpie to write out everyone’s names.

Manicure Kit Supplies

In each kit:

  • A girly shade of Nina Ultra Pro polish – I like this polish for little ones (some of these boxes went to friends’ daughters) because the formula is Toluene free.
  • One top coat (varying brands)
  • One multi-purpose nail file
  • One polish remover pad (bought in a box of 10 at Target)
  • One small jar filled with glitter or microbeads (from the scrapbooking section at the craft store) – I bought the jars in a pack of twelve and filled each one separately.

Manicure Gift Box

I put tissue paper inside each box then put all the goodies in, put the box tops on and tied the name tags on with some green baker’s twine. I think I love making gift boxes.
