Celebrate! PTI Sentiment Splits

I’m here today to share three clean and simple cards I created using the Papertrey Ink splits: Celebrate stamps and matching die.

PTI - Celebrate

As is the case with most of my cards, I kept things pretty simple for each card. I started by stamping the design onto some watercolor paper, and then painted a multi-colored wash over each stamp. I then cut the sentiment out with the matching die.

Before mounting each finished sentiment split onto my A2-sized card bases I decided I should add some interest to the card base itself. For two of the cards, I just used my score board to create some score lines every half inch down the card. It’s not reading very well in the photographs but trust me, the score marks are there! This is a technique I love to do because it adds subtle interest and texture. I learned the technique from Laurie of Soapbox Creations. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, you should, she’s so talented!
PTI - CelebrateThe third card I used texture paste and the Tiny Dots stencil from SSS for some added texture in the background. I mounted each sentiment strip on a piece of fun foam (I used the die again to cut the fun foam into the right shape) and attached the sentiments to the cards.

Lastly, I added some clear droplets to finish everything off.

I think these sentiment splits would be fun to color with copic markers or colored pencils. They’d even be nice to leave just black and white for a white-on-white design. Kind of love that idea.

Happy Thursday!

Feeling Grateful

I  begrudgingly put on tights this morning.

I have to finally admit to myself that Fall is here, and the cooler temperatures are coming. But, I do love, love, love Autumn in New England. The trees are starting to turn and I’m enjoying the occasional hot chai latte in the morning (no pumpkin spice for me)! As much as I love the fall, it does make me a little sad that summer seemed so fleeting! But, now I can look forward to cooler temps, cozy fires, all my favorite fall colors, all the food I get to eat on Thanksgiving (!!), and fun stamp sets like the one I used to make this card!

Concord & 9th Grateful

The card I’m sharing today was made using the beautiful fall-themed Concord & 9th  Lace Leaf stamp set and the Grateful Leaf die. I also used a SSS grid background stamp and some white embossing powder to create an emboss-resist background on the card. I painted over the embossing with several greenish-blue shades from my Gansai tambi watercolor set.

Concord & 9th GratefulI cut the grateful sentiment from the die set out of both white cardstock and some fun foam, and layered them up to give the word some dimension. The word “feeling” I heat-embossed in white on some black cardstock, and I also stamped and die cut two small leaves in different shades of gray and attached those to the card as well. I finished everything off with some Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets.

Concord & 9th GratefulEven though I’m sad to be officially transitioning to tights and heavy jackets, Fall is my favorite season. What about you? Are you sad to see summer go? Or, are you looking forward to scarves and hats?
