Happy Holidays

One week until Christmas Day! How is everyone doing so far? I’m trying my best not to get swept up into the stress of it all – so far so good. Every year I make a little something for friends and coworkers so I’ve been working on that, and I did a wee bit of decorating a few weeks ago, too!

Happy Holidays card

I can say that I have been lacking a bit in the Christmas card-making department, but at least I’ve made a couple!

Happy Holidays card

This one has a bit of everything thrown in – some distress ink blending over a chevron stencil, a die cut sentiment and heat embossed secondary sentiment, some string, clear droplets and some die cut flora for a little extra kick.

I hope you like the card! And I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Midweek Manicure // Chevron Nails

It’s been ages since the last midweek manicure!

Chevron Nails

I wore this nail design at my friend Marisa’s wedding last month. I wanted it to be very subtle, but still fun and interesting. …Please forgive the quality of the iphone photos…

I used:

  • Base Coat
  • White polish (any white polish will do, i.e. I can’t remember the name of this one)
  • Zig Zag nail tip guides from Born Pretty Store
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Bare Dare
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat

Neutral Chevron Nails

After a base coat and two coats of white polish on each nail had dried, I placed the nail strips on each nail (two on each), and then painted over them with Bare Dare. I made sure to remove the stickers as soon as I’d painted over them to get the best effect. After everything dried, I added a top coat.

Midweek Manicure // Chevron Nails

This has nothing to do with nail polish, but tonight I signed D and I up for free ballroom dance classes to prepare us for our first dance at the wedding reception. The first of the 5 classes starts the week after next and promises to be very interesting! I’ll let you know how it goes!

In other news, this week I have chevron nails – finally! I’d tried doing a similar pattern with tape and special scissors and all kinds of stuff but found that free-handing it worked best.

Chevron Mani

I used:

  • China Glaze – For Audrey (Tiffany Blue base color)
  • Stripe Rite striper polish in gold (for the chevron pattern)

I first painted on a base coat of the China Glaze. Once it was dry, I used the striper polish to paint the tips of my nails with the triangle pattern first, then painted the triangle at the base of my nail to match the angle that I painted along the top. Easy Peasy!
