I feel a little strange about not having made a single Christmas card yet. I suppose it’s because I have a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving, so I’m hoping once Friday hits I’ll be good to go and you’ll see some Holiday cards here on the blog (fingers crossed)! So, now that I’ve lamented that issue, how about a nice card that reminds me of spring? ha.
I think we can officially say that Wplus9’s Doodle Buds stamp set is one of my favorites (see here, and here!). For these two cards, I stamped out a few of the flowers, created masks with post-it notes, and continued building a scene with the stamps.
I made sure to stamp on some nice watercolor paper (I tend to use Canson brand)with Intense Black Ink (it’s waterproof so it’s perfect for this). I then painted everything with my Gansai Tambi watercolor paints. I added a simple sentiment at the top right of each card. For the first card (4bar size with the blue background) I decided to give it a bit more interest by cutting a stitched rectangle out of the panel and popping the center part up onto some fun foam. When I mounted it onto a card base, I made sure the images that made up the frame and center panel lined up.
I used the same stamping and masking technique for the second card, but decided on a yellow background. I used a large stitched rectangle die (the largest in the Lawn Fawn set) to cut a boarder into the panel and then mounted it onto a A2-sized card base.
I think I like the larger, yellow card best, but both are fun.
Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? Or just hoping to get through Thanksgiving, like me? At any rate, I hope all of you who celebrate have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Love these!
