Midweek Manicure // Watercolor Nails

Watercolor Nails

This week, I wanted to use some spring-y pastel colors on my nails, and after several attempts (and fails) and different designs, I figured I should keep it kind of simple! I first painted on a white base coat and then dotted on each of the three bright colors I chose, and a bit more of the base color, then swirled them together using a dotting tool.

China Glaze and Essie Polishes

I used:

  • Essie Marshmallow as a base color
  • 3 spring/pastel polishes (China Glaze Passion for Petals, China Glaze For Audrey and China Glaze Tart-y for the Party)
  • Dotting tool (you could also use a toothpick)

After two coats of Essie Marshmallow dried on my nail, I placed a few dots of each color on the nail, topped off with another drop of the Marshmallow to help with the ‘mixing.’

Then, using a dotting tool or toothpick, swirl all the colors together. If you end up with an excessive amount of polish on your nail (see above), remove a bit with the end of the tool while you’re swirling. Then, you should end up with something like this:

**Make sure you allow the polish ample time to dry before applying a topcoat. Because of the dotting and swirling you end up with a lot of polish on your nail, and it will need some time to dry – give it about an hour or so before a top coat.
