Midweek Manicure // DIY Velvet Nails (twice!)

Pretty sure someone at Ciate just went to their local craft store and came up with all these manicures they’re putting out now (see here, and here). They are now out with a new velvet manicure for fall, and it’s pretty easy to DIY with some flocking powder from the scrap booking section at Michaels (or any other craft store)!  I’ve tried it twice in the last two weeks.

Here are my results:

DIY Velvet Manicure

My first go-around was with Ulta Chocoholic polish as a base. I then painted on a clear top coat and sprinkled the flocking powder (Inkadinkado in Coffee Bean) over the wet polish, pressing it down a bit to make sure it stuck.

DIY Purple Velvet Mani

The second time, I used Funky Fingers Riot as my base color and Recollections flocking powder in the color Beet for the “velvet.”

I have to say I liked the Inkadinkado flocking powder best, although I loved the results of both!

You can also check out my first attempt at re-creating a Ciate manicure here.

Happy Wednesday!
